KLM Is Ready For SkyPriority

Summary

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is ready to launch SkyPriority, a series of easily identifiable airport-based priority services for passengers of SkyTeam airlines. First Class, Business Class and SkyTeam Elite Plus members — including Flying Blue Platinum and Gold members — all qualify for SkyPriority.

SkyPriority makes SkyTeam’s priority services consistent and easy to recognise for passengers flying with any SkyTeam airline. Over the coming months, SkyPriority will launch at all of KLM and Air France’s 235 airports around the world. From 2013, SkyPriority will be available at the more than one thousand SkyTeam destinations.

“With SkyPriority, we can offer our most loyal passengers an improved travel experience,” says Erik Varwijk, KLM’s managing director. “Travel includes everything from check-in desk to baggage carousel, and we make it all faster and easier. We can offer our SkyTeam customers an even better, more consistent product.”

Travellers can see the SkyPriority mark on their boarding pass and know immediately if they qualify for this special service. From check-in to departure, they can follow the red SkyPriority signs so they can check in, drop off their bags, and board faster and easier. What is more, SkyPriority makes it easier for airport staff to recognise and assist passengers.

SkyTeam is the first airline alliance to offer consistent priority services worldwide, in which all member airlines take part. All SkyTeam airlines have established their implementation dates and introduction periods. Some of the first airports to introduce SkyPriority include Paris Charles de Gaulle (today), Atlanta, Guangzhou, Nairobi, Shanghai, and Taipei.

About KLM

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines was founded in 1919, making it the world's oldest airline operating under its original name. In 2004, Air France and KLM merged to form AIR FRANCE KLM. The merger produced the strongest European airline group based on two powerful brands names and hubs —Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Paris Charles de Gaulle. The two airlines collaborate on three core activities while maintaining their own identities — passenger transport, cargo, transport, and aircraft maintenance.

In the Netherlands, KLM comprises the core of the KLM Group which further includes KLM cityhopper and transavia.com. KLM serves 135 destinations using a modern fleet of 157 aircraft and employs over 33,000 people around the world. KLM is a leader in the airline industry, which offers reliable operations and customer-oriented products resulting from its policy of enthusiasm and sustainable innovation.

KLM is a member of SkyTeam, an airline alliance offering a network of 926 destinations in more than 173 countries. The KLM network connects the Netherlands to every important economic region around the world and, as such, serves as a powerful driver for the Dutch economy.
