KLM 95th Delftware Miniature Features the Heineken Brewery in Amsterdam

Summary

Today, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines celebrates its 95th anniversary. Every year, KLM marks its anniversary on 7 October with a new Delftware miniature house. This year KLM has chosen the HEINEKEN Brewery in Amsterdam, which is extra festive because HEINEKEN is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year.

It is an honour to present this 95th KLM miniature. What makes it extra special is that HEINEKEN is also marking an important milestone this year and that both HEINEKEN and KLM are strong Dutch brands. KLM also cooperates with HEINEKEN in various areas, such as the development of KLM’s new World Business Class lounge at Schiphol and in the Dutch Sustainable Growth Coalition, in which we have teamed up with other Dutch multinationals to inspire sustainable growth. And of course we serve Heineken on board.
Camiel Eurlings, Chairman and CEO of KLM
All over the world, our brands help people to connect with one another. Wherever KLM may carry you, you will almost always find our Heineken® brand. The fact that our brewery has been selected for KLM’s world-famous series of miniatures confirms our relationship and makes us proud.
Jean-François van Boxmeer, chairman of Executive Board and CEO of HEINEKEN

The 95th miniature was today unveiled in spectacular fashion at a festive ceremony. KLM President & CEO Camiel Eurlings presented the first miniature to Mrs. de Carvalho-Heineken and Mr van der Burg.

KLM miniature: HEINEKEN Brewery
The HEINEKEN Brewery was built in 1913, replacing the old brewery that had stood on the Stadhouderskade in Amsterdam since 1868. The last beer was brewed on the Stadhouderskade in 1988.

At that time, around 90,000 people a year were visiting the brewery. Because HEINEKEN wanted to honour this tradition, the brewery on the Stadhouderskade was converted into a visitors’ centre. The building, which dates from 1913, is now the heart of the Heineken Experience, which annually attracts 600,000 visitors from around the world.

KLM miniatures
KLM’s Delftware miniature houses are an exclusive gift to our World Business Class passengers. They are popular collector’s items all over the world.

KLM has presented the miniatures since the 1950s. The houses are replicas of special buildings in the Netherlands. Since 1994, the number of miniatures has coincided with KLM’s age. A new miniature is added to the collection every year on 7 October. The houses are presented to World Business Class passengers on intercontinental flights.
